End of the Year Celebrations and New Beachfront Cabañas

We welcomed the new year with an exclusive program on January 1st, which included Kundalini Yoga with our precious Gurmuhk, sound healing, kids activities, and officially inaugurated our new swimming pool, along with new charming cabañas and tree houses. These new accommodations are located right in front of the pristine beach of the protected natural reserve, surrounded by lush jungle, in the heart of the archeological zone of Tulum. They also feature a new stone swimming pool and wooden sun deck, directly in front of the ocean with a mesmerizing view of the sunrise. We are delighted with the result and can’t wait for you to enjoy them!

We are so grateful to have been able to end this amazing 2021 surrounded by our beautiful community, our soul family, as well as for all the blessings received and lessons learned throughout the year. We closed this chapter by gathering around our sacred fire with a closing Balché ceremony, a traditional mayan end of the year burning ritual, a wholesome dinner and a prehispanic dancers performance. We are delighted to have these memories to look back on:

The balché is a Mayan ceremonial drink that is prepared using cenote water where the bark of the balché tree is submerged using a stone, melipona honey is added, and it is left to ferment for a few days. It is mainly used in spiritual, ritualistic and shamanic contexts, to make communion with the elements and spirits of nature. The Quema del Año Viejo is a ritual of purification to ward off bad luck or negative energies where Old Year is set alight at midnight. This tradition is widely accepted and has a lot of symbolism, because the fire burns, purifies and regenerates energy. It is a way to thank what was and to let go, creating space to receive the new.

We finished the year with a sweet opening of the heart, sharing a delicious meal with our loved ones, dancing under the starry night sky. It filled our souls with light, and was a perfect preparation to receive 2022. We would like to warmly thank all those who came, and cannot wait to see you soon at Ikal!
