Vajrasattva, the “100-syllable mantra”
We are beyond excited to receive the very special visit of Lama Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche from the 11th - to the 14th of October. We are equally thrilled to inform you that we are launching our second music single through our label Ikal Records with the participation of Lama Khenpo, which was recorded during his first visit at Ikal.
This single is a musical rendition of the Vajrasattva mantra, also known as the 100-syllable mantra. It is one of the main negative karma purification practices in the Tibetan Buddhism tradition. In their truest form, mantras are essentially untranslatable. However, we can understand this mantra as a pathway to come into union with Source, or universal love, to purify our karma and clear our mind of negativity.
As long as it is recited with loving intention, this powerful mantra can purify our actions, thoughts, and words. It can help us transcend our mistakes as well as heal our mind and body.
Vajrasattva is a deity which is white in color, and which represents purity or purification. Five jewels crown his head and he dresses in dazzling silks made of pure light. Vajrasattva's right hand is at the level of the heart, holding a vajra, the diamond scepter of the Buddhas. His left hand rests beside him, holding a bell-vajra. He sits on a lotus flower and his gaze is compassionate towards human beings.
